Coaching Philosophy

ll too often we hear people say that they aren’t good enough or that they will never be able to do something in CrossFit. This way of thinking will be an immediate set back for you and severely limit your true potential. After all, has anyone ever achieved anything great without some hard work, sacrifice and perhaps a few wrong turns? At CrossFit Templar we strive to provide athletes with the highest quality of coaching and our goal is to get you in the best physical and mental shape of your life. We will give you the tools, cues and resources, but it is up to you to put in the time. There will be blood, sweat and tears, but know that we are all a family and that we’re here in support of you. Also my advice to everyone out there–don’t forget to laugh and have fun and remember that you are stronger than you were the day before!

Coaching Philosophy

The beauty of CrossFit is that it is 100% scalable so every workout can be modified making each WOD possible, regardless of skill level. When you become a member of the CrossFit community it makes you want to spread the word to everyone you know. I have set out to mentor our athletes to establish and attain their goals, making each and every person a better athlete. I believe Crossfit is a lifestyle, not just a “fad” or “diet” and my ultimate goal is that everyone goes home feeling better about themselves and the progress that’s been made. I want each and every athlete to accomplish something that they never thought possible! Just knowing and seeing the dramatic changes in myself, my family, and the athletes in our gym have made me a firm believer for life!

Interests

Time with family and friends, cheering my kids on in their activities, reading, and anything on or in the water…and Crossfit!

Coaching Philosophy

Since I work mostly with the new members, one thing I see over and over again is that walking through the door can be a huge accomplishment. Once people make the commitment I hear a variety of reasons as to why they have joined Crossfit: to lose weight, become faster, bored with old training, want muscles, etc. For me, the best part is watching them get much more out of Crossfit then they originally intended. It is a mental strength that people gain that makes Crossfit an all inclusive lifestyle change. Greg Glassman says, “The greatest adaptation to CrossFit takes place between the ears.” And the best part – you never get bored, always have something to strive for, and you’ll learn more about yourself then you had intended all with a great group of athletes!

Coaching Philosophy

I had been participating in competitive sports for the better portion of my life and it all came to a halt after graduating college. I started going to the local Globo-gym trying to stay in shape but I wasn’t getting much out of it and I felt like something was missing. I joined Crossfit Templar in January 2012 and the rest was history – I was officially addicted! I had been missing the feeling of camaraderie and competitiveness that you get when you're part of a team. To me, the athletes at CrossFit Templar make up our team where we get to push and help each other to reach our fitness goals. Everyday brings a new workout with different functional movements that are safe and applicable to your everyday life. My goal is to put all of our athletes in the best position to start, meet, and exceed their personal goals in fitness – while having a great time doing it!! High School 3 Sport Athlete in Football,

Riding my Harley, hunting, beards, doing anything on the water.

Coaching Philosophy

I first came to Crossfit Templar a couple months after I got out of the army in 2011. The first WOD I did destroyed me and I was hooked! I like how versatile it is. You have young, old, beginners, and tremendous athletes all working out together. After leaving the military I missed the camaraderie, and I found it in Crossfit. It makes for such a fun environment to workout in that you want to keep coming back to. I like that what you put into it is what you get out of it. Most of the time our minds quit on us before our bodies do. So, as a coach I like to motivate the athletes to safely push farther every time they come in. To keep moving until the buzzer and to finish strong!

Interests

Coaching Philosophy

I’m 45 and in the best shape of my life! I started at 30 as a runner and triathlete which helped my cardio and weight, but it wasn’t until CrossFit that I learned what it means to be fit physically and mentally. Just going to the gym wasn’t enough to improve. I needed a trainer to motivate. That’s part of the magic of CrossFit - your coaches and fellow athletes are fantastic motivators. Combine that with a variety of movements and modifications and it never gets dull. There’s always something to work at, something you’re improving at and people to share it with. I became a coach because I love the gym and community, and wanted to help others achieve their own personal best.

Interests

Spending time with my family, coaching and participating in Crossfit competitions.

Coaching Philosophy

My background is in Physical Therapy so my coaching philosophy is to listen to your body. Building a solid foundation with good body mechanics and technique will lead to your greatest physical achievements. Even if someone has had or currently has an injury, they can benefit from building strength and overall fitness through the variety of workouts that CrossFit and its coaches can provide. I personally love that you don't have to walk into the gym and think, "What should I do today?" The plan for success is already laid out for you!
